Buyer's comparison
Best CPQ software in 2026: how to actually choose
"Best CPQ" is the wrong question; "best CPQ for your constraints" is the right one. Three constraints decide almost every evaluation:
- Where your CRM lives. A bolted-on CPQ inherits a sync boundary forever.
- How complex your catalog is. Nested bundles and compatibility rules need a real rules engine.
- Who administers it. Some platforms assume a dedicated admin; some assume a RevOps manager with a spare afternoon.
| Platform | Best when… | Watch out for… |
|---|---|---|
| Salesforce CPQ / Revenue Cloud | You're all-in on Salesforce with admin headcount and partner budget; extreme scale and edge cases. | Implementation length and cost; admin complexity; opaque pricing. Full comparison → |
| Glime (that's us) | You want CRM + CPQ as one product, self-serve setup, public pricing, and AI in the quoting flow. | Young ecosystem; marketing automation still on the roadmap. Judge the sandbox yourself → |
| DealHub | You keep your existing CRM and want a guided-selling layer on top. | Still a second system with its own admin model and sync surface. |
| PandaDoc CPQ | Your quoting problem is mostly a document problem — proposals, e-sign, templates. | Lighter pricing engine; complex catalogs outgrow it. |
| Subskribe / other quote-to-revenue | SaaS-native ramp deals, usage pricing, and billing unification matter most. | Optimized for subscription models more than configured physical/hybrid catalogs. |
The five questions that expose weak CPQs
- "Change a price mid-demo — how long until every open quote reflects the rule?" (Rules engine reality check.)
- "Show me a quote's version 1 after version 4 exists." (Audit and versioning.)
- "What happens when a rep requests a 28% discount?" (Approval routing, not email.)
- "Export everything, right now, in front of us." (Lock-in test — walk if they flinch.)
- "What does implementation cost, all-in, in writing?" (TCO honesty.)
Question 3 is the one that separates a quoting tool from a governance tool. Ask whether the chain runs in order, whether the submitter can approve their own quote, and what the system does past the ceiling — here is how we answer it.
Run the numbers, not the demos
Every vendor demos well. The differentiation shows up in implementation weeks, admin hours, and discount leakage — all quantifiable. Our ROI calculator is vendor-neutral math with the assumptions printed on the page; use it against any shortlist.
